PRONIOSOMES - DRUG CARRIER FOR TRANSDERMAL DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM
Main Article Content
Abstract
Nanotechnology is advancing rapidly and bringing revolutionary changes in scientific fields, particularly in drug delivery, diagnosis, nutraceuticals, and biomedical implants and prosthetics. The pro-vesicular system is an emerging nanotechnology that addresses stability issues associated with conventional vesicular systems like liposomes and niosomes. Proniosomes, as part of this system, are water-soluble, solid colloidal particles coated with surfactants. These particles can be hydrated to form niosomal dispersions by simple agitation in hot aqueous media. Proniosomes help mitigate problems such as aggregation, fusion, and leakage often associated with niosomes. This article covers preparation methods, characterization techniques, and drugs utilized in this system.
